The perfect place for a get-away camp, hunters stalk deer, bears, grouse and other small game. And fishermen enjoy snagging fish from the James, Rockfish, Tye and Piney rivers that are favorite places to catch large- and smallmouth bass and blue gill. Browns, rainbows and brooks can be taken by fly. Road access is easy with I-64, US Highway 29 and US Highway 60. Other attractions include the 10,800-acre Wintergreen Resort that offers downhill skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, golf and tennis. Portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail also attract visitors.  Nelson County Public Schools provides K-12 public education.
