Camden County Land and Farms

Farms and land in Camden County are packed into just 241 square miles with a population of 11,000, but there is a wealth of opportunities for investors, those looking for a new home or a place to start a new business. The Camden County land is bordered by Currituck, Pasquotank and Gates counties, Albemarle Sound to the south and Virginia to the north. The county is the southern terminus of the Great Dismal Swamp Canal, which runs along US Highway 17 into Virginia. Its location makes it an easy drive to entertainment, beaches and other urban offerings in neighboring NC counties and Virginia. With 59,000 acres in farm land, agricultural is a large part of the county’s economic engine. Ninety-one percent of the farm land is devoted to crops. Hunters frequent the area to hunt bear, deer, turkey and waterfowl. Fishermen dip a line in hopes of catching largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, white perch, yellow perch, catfish and sunfish. The largest private employers in the county are CACI Technology, Swain and Temple, and Health Solutions. Local attractions include the Camden County Heritage Museum and the Historic Jail. Camden County Schools provides public education for grades K-12, and for those seeking higher education, Mid Atlantic Christian University is within easy driving distance.
